Enhanced expectancies facilitate golf putting

چکیده
Objectives: To examine the influence of enhanced expectancies on motor learning, we manipulated learners' expectancies by providing criteria for “success” that were relatively easy or difficult to meet. Design: Experimental design with two groups. Method: Two groups of non-golfers practiced putting golf balls to a target from a distance of 150 cm. The target was surrounded by a large (14 cm diameter) and a small circle (7 cm diameter) during practice. The groups were informed that balls coming to rest in the large circle (large-circle group) or small circle (small-circle group), respectively, constituted a “good” trial. One day later, the circles were removed. Participants putted from the same distance (retention) and a greater distance (transfer: 180 cm). Results: On both retention and transfer tests, accuracy was greater for the large-circle compared with the

The Effect of Enhanced Expectancies on Performance and learning Golf Putting with an Emphasis on Self-efficacy and Perception Competence
Sport psychology and its role is important effect on successful in physical education. One of following a field of sport psychology that affects performance, is self-efficacy. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of raising expected impact on performance and learning with an emphasis on self-efficacy and competence Put Golf is perceived. In terms of content this study was applica...
متن کاملEnhancing performance expectancies through visual illusions facilitates motor learning in children.
In a recent study by Chauvel, Wulf, and Maquestiaux (2015), golf putting performance was found to be affected by the Ebbinghaus illusion. Specifically, adult participants demonstrated more effective learning when they practiced with a hole that was surrounded by small circles, making it look larger, than when the hole was surrounded by large circles, making it look smaller. The present study ex...
متن کاملVisual illusions can facilitate sport skill learning.
Witt, Linkenauger, and Proffitt (Psychological Science, 23, 397-399, 2012) demonstrated that golf putting performance was enhanced when the hole was surrounded by small circles, making it look larger, relative to when it was surrounded by large circles, making it look smaller. In the present study, we examined whether practicing putting with small or large surrounding circles would have not onl...
متن کاملLayered stimulus response training improves motor imagery ability and movement execution.
This study aimed to test Lang's bioinformational theory by comparing the effects of layered stimulus and response training (LSRT) with imagery practice on improvements in imagery ability and performance of a motor skill (golf putting) in 24 novices (age, M = 20.13 years; SD = 1.65; 12 female) low in imagery ability. Participants were randomly assigned to a LSRT (introducing stimulus and respons...
متن کاملSensorimotor Rhythm Neurofeedback Enhances Golf Putting Performance.
Sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) activity has been related to automaticity during skilled action execution. However, few studies have bridged the causal link between SMR activity and sports performance. This study investigated the effect of SMR neurofeedback training (SMR NFT) on golf putting performance. We hypothesized that preelite golfers would exhibit enhanced putting performance after SMR NFT. S...
